Hello Everyone!
Egypt is absolutely one of the most extraordinary places I have ever been. I have wanted to go there ever since I was a little girl, but in the last few days it was surpassed my expectations of what I thought I would experience. I was a little nervous about being an American traveling in the Middle East, especially in Egypt where American tourists are often targets for bus or hotel bombings. But the people were amazingly nice and I only experienced a minimal amount of Anti-Americanism. I also felt very safe because on each bus we went on (because it was all Semester At Sea students) we had a security guard come on our bus with us, as well as having one police car un front of our bus and one police car behind our bus at all times. Also, there were metal detectors in each hotel we stayed in. I am going to make this entry as short as I can, because I am sick (stuffy nose and sore throat) and I have a huge assignment due in my class tomorrow. Also I am updating this from an internet cafe, so if the pictures are not in order, or too small, or weird, thats why!
Here we go...
Me at the Step Pyramid Of Zoser
The Pyramids of Giza at Sunrise
Me and Karen on our Camel (his name was micky mouse)
Walk like an Egyptian...
This is me and a random guy on a camel who's name was Micheal Jackson
Me and Micheal Jackson
Yay! Pyramids!
The Great Pyramid upclose, I got to climb inside of it!
Sphynx and Pyramids!
On a street in Luxor
Mini Sphynx in Memphis
Statue of Ramses III
A view of a mosque on our cruise on the nile
The Eqyptian Flag
Me on our nile cruise (this is the day we woke up at 2:30 am- you can tell how hot and tired I am !)
Preformer on our Nile Cruise
Muhommed Ali's Mosque (I couldnt take pictures inside)
A statue in front of the egyptian museaum in Cairo - it was so cool it had EVERYTHING for king tuts tomb and just floors and floors of famous artifacts. Of course cameras were not allowed ) :
In front of King Tuts Tomb in the Vally of the Kings with my new friends

Me and tuts tomb
The awesome local hookah/coffee shop where we got the best shisha and Fillaphles (I am sure I just butchered that word) ever!
the iced hibiscus tea they gave us....delicious
Karnak
Ok thats all for now....I had so many pictures, it was so hard to choose which ones to upload and this computer has been so slow, I hope this turns out ok! Bottom line egypt was amazing and breath taking and was even more than I imagined it could be! I love Egypt! I better go hurry on ship time is in an hour! Love and miss you all!
From August to December of 2007 I will embark on a journey around the world through Semester At Sea. This is a blog for my friends and family to read about my travels and experiences abroad! Wish me luck!

We love the pics of you on "Mickey Mouse" etc. So glad to hear you were well-escorted! Unbelievable that you are actually exploring pyramids & at Tut's tomb. It must be so neat to see firsthand the pics in history books and add yourself to them. We are thinking of you and say prayers of safety, can't wait to hear some stories. Hi M: Your photos from Egypt were amazing! Wonderful pics. Michael Jackson was so cute. So glad you are experiencing everything possible - like camels and elephants and everything else that comes your way. You might not ever get another chance. Afterall, how many places do you go that have camels for you to ride around on? Stay well and get plenty of rest. Love you - Grandma
I'm happy to see you living out your dreams of visiting Egypt. It's so surreal to see my cousin standing in front of the pyramids! So rad! I can't believe you've not only ridden elephants... camels! How many people can say that? You're trip looks amazing! -Diane
